Monument to the Battle of Sudoměř ukaž mapuukaž foto

A place where the army of Catholic lords fought against a small group of followers of the reformist thinker Jan Hus on March 25, 1420. The small battle, in which the Catholic army was defeated, led to a long period of religious wars that ended with the religious reconciliation in 1485. Today the monumental statue of General Jan Žižka by the sculptor Emanuel Kodet reminds visitors of the famous battle. The place is an example of the South Bohemian fishing scenery, ideal for cycling and picnics. The area is open all year round.
